San Juan Bautista #8

Isidro de Villoldo
Madera policromada

In this sculpture, the figure of St. John is standing, leaning on some rocks: he wears a camel skin tunic that leaves bare the right shoulder and thigh. On the base and on the right leg we can see the hooves of the little lamb that would have accompanied him, now lost, and which he is pointing to with his right hand. It comes from the Weisbérger collection. / Extracted from: A.A.V.V.: Instituto Gómez-Moreno (catalog). Granada, 1992, p. 180.
